Blue - the color that is mostly associated with the blue skies, the calm sea, and the peaceful mind… Now BLUE takes a new meaning… No, we’re not talking about the shades of the color Blue, rather, we’re talking about a concept, an idea….which, hopefully, will bring us all together to come up with something good for the people of Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

Binibining Lawaan Unified Enthusiasts (BLUE) launches Binibining Lawaan 2008, a brains and beauty competition that will culminate on May 2008 in our hometown of Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

Proceeds in excess of pageant-related costs will be used toward Binibining Lawaan Scholarship Fund (BLSF) for poor but very deserving students. In effect, this project will not only put Lawaan in the map in terms of entertainment, but it will also provide an opportunity for potential donors to support a scholarship program.

QUALIFICATIONS OF CONTESTANTS

Let your quest for a coveted title begin at the town you call your own… Be proud to represent the place that boasts the natural beauties of the sea, beaches, rivers, islands and falls. Meet the wonderful people of your hometown while enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime chance to be crowned as the first-ever Binibining Lawaan!!!

You are invited to join the pageant (Bb. Lawaan 2008) if you meet the following qualifications:

1) Female, single, of good reputation;

2) Born within this period: from May 9, 1987 to May 8, 1992;

3) Should stand at a minimum of 5 feet tall; AND

4) The candidate must meet ANY one of the following:

a) Birthplace. Born in Lawaan, Eastern Samar ("Lawaan, Eastern Samar" shall be defined to include Poblacion Lawaan and the following barangays: Bolusao, Guinob-an, Betaog, Taguite, Maslog and San Isidro)

b) Residence. Current resident of Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

c) School. Attended any of the schools in Lawaan, Eastern Samar.

d) At least one of the candidate's parents grew up in Lawaan, Eastern Samar.
